Valentine Day

Hello Parents,

Here is some information with regards to Valentine's Day

Valentine Card Exchange

This exercise is excellent to practise name writing.  We encourage you to use the class lsit to make a small card for every student.  It can be a drawing, a piece of paper with the shape of a heart, etc.  I strongly encourage homemade cards.  Send them to school on Friday February 14th and they will be distributed that day.

Valentine Buffet

On Friday February 14th, we will make a buffet table with nut free snacks.  Our Valentine's gorup fro Celebrations are welcome to send homemade goodies with a list of ingredients.  Fruits and vegetables will be more than welcomed.

Here is the list of what each child should bring:

Plates, Cups, and Napkins - Luke
Drinks - Madelene
Treats - Makayla, Megan, Olive

Our Winter holiday buffet was a huge success!

Thank you

Hello Parents,

We wanted to inform all parents who have requested a Portfolio Meeting for the Week of the 12th, that they are confirmed for their first choice of time.

Any parents who did not return the Portfolio Meeting form but would like to meet to review their child's second term work should connect with Marie-Claude to make arrangements.

Hello Parents,

In our classroom we are learning about food and geometric shapes.  We decided to do a construction activity made from fruits adn vegetables instead of lego pieces.

We are asking each child to bring in four shapes, i.e square, circle, rectangle, triangle, carved from a fruit and a vegetable.  The activity will include sharing their fruits and vegetable shapes within a small group.

Monday Febraury 3rd - Vivian, Samantha, Anisija, Megan, Makayla, Scott
Tuesday February 4th - Siena, Valeria, Gabrielle, Madelene, Luke, Ryan L.
Wednesday February 5th - Laura, Ainsley, Danielle, Talia, Ryan P., Edwin
Thursday February 6th - Olive, Charlotte, Riley, Leah, Breanna, Dexter, Ryan G.

Parents are more than wlecome to join us, during the mornings for this activity.

Please let us know if you plan on coming into our classroom.

We are looking forward to working with the children to see where their imagination takes them.

Happy New Year - January Learning

Happy New Year parents,
We just wanted to let you know what we are learning in the classroom.

We have asked the children "Comment la nature nous aide?"  Which translates to "How does nature help us?"
We also have 2 subsections, which we are working on which are:  Food and Well-being.

We are learning about food, items which they may already know how to cook, as well as food items they would like to learn how to cook.

We are also learning about geometric shapes, items we see in the classroom and what shape they look like.
For an example a window looks like a square!  We are also distinguishing differences between 2D and 3D shapes.

Thank you
Mme Melissa et Marie Claude

Cold Weather Clothing

Hi Parents,
as the winter weather approaches we need to ensure that your children are wearing the proper attire.

I ask that you please ensure that your children have a pair of indoor shoes which will remain at school.  Please be sure to label your childs shoes just in case they go missing.  All children should be prepared to go outside, so that means a scarf, mitts ( that won't get wet) as well as a hat.

Thank you,
Mme Melissa et Marie-Claude

Hygeine Kits

I am sending an email reminder about participating in the Hygiene Kits for the Yonge Street Mission that Mrs. Ferch is organizing.

The Young Street Mission in Toronto has been providing the hungry and homeless in Toronto with shelter, relief, food, health and employment since 1896.

This is wonderful activity that you can do with your children in the spirit of giving

Below are a list of items that will help Yonge Street Mission provide Hygiene Kits to disadvantaged adults and youths.

If you could spend some time with your child to go out and obtain the items that would be wonderful. It is a great opportunity for your child to learn how they are helping another person in need.

Please bring these "kits" in by Monday, November 19th.  Mrs. Ferch will be taking the items downtown later that week.

In a ziploc bag please include travel size items such as:

·         toothpaste
·         toothbrush
·         soap
·         shampoo
·         conditioner
·         deodorant
·         hand sanitizer
·         disposable razors

Thank you for your support.

Halloween Parade

Hi Parents,

The kids will be doing a Halloween Parade on October 31!
The students will be parading outside to show off their Halloween costumes!  The parade will start at approximately 2:30pm.  Please send your child dressed in his/her cotume in the morning.  Remember that the costume should be comfortable, not include any weapons or masks, and your child must be able to use the washroom independently with his/her costume on.

Thank you,
Mme Melissa et Marie-Claude
