Cold Weather Clothing
Hi Parents,
as the winter weather approaches we need to ensure that your children are wearing the proper attire.
I ask that you please ensure that your children have a pair of indoor shoes which will remain at school. Please be sure to label your childs shoes just in case they go missing. All children should be prepared to go outside, so that means a scarf, mitts ( that won't get wet) as well as a hat.
Thank you,
Mme Melissa et Marie-Claude
Hygeine Kits
I am sending an email reminder about participating in the Hygiene Kits for the Yonge Street Mission that Mrs. Ferch is organizing.
The Young Street Mission in Toronto has been providing the hungry and homeless in Toronto with shelter, relief, food, health and employment since 1896.
This is wonderful activity that you can do with your children in the spirit of giving
Below are a list of items that will help Yonge Street Mission provide Hygiene Kits to disadvantaged adults and youths.
If you could spend some time with your child to go out and obtain the items that would be wonderful. It is a great opportunity for your child to learn how they are helping another person in need.
Please bring these "kits" in by Monday, November 19th. Mrs. Ferch will be taking the items downtown later that week.
In a ziploc bag please include travel size items such as:
· toothpaste
· toothbrush
· soap
· shampoo
· conditioner
· deodorant
· hand sanitizer
· disposable razors

Thank you for your support.

As a class we love to celebrate yearly holidays and events! The Kindergarten Team has made a choice to hold a variety of celebrations for the 2013/2014 school year. The first celebration will be our upcoming Halloween Party on Thursday, October 31st, 2013.
In order to ensure that all children have an opportunity to supply a
treat, we have decided to divide our students into 5 groups. We will assign a
group to every celebration. Please be mindful of allergies and portions regarding
the number of students in our class!!
We have 25 students and food allergies related to Peanut.
Taking part in the planning of classroom celebrations is optional and
therefore not at all mandatory. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly
regarding any concerns or questions.
We greatly appreciate your support in advance!!!

September Update
Hi Parents,
September
has already rolled by quickly and we have been making some good progress in
getting used to routines and the French language. We have been working on
several inquiry based learning that, not only, complement each other but can
also be incorporated in the daily lives of the students. Here they are:
1 – How do
I take care of my community (home, school and their neighbourhood)
a- How do I take care of myself
b- How do I take care of my things
c- How do I take care of my body (wash
hand, eat healthy, exercise, blow my nose in a tissue, sneeze in my sleeve and
not in my hands, etc.)
2- We are
also talking about the characteristics of a good listener, good reader and good
writer.
3- In
mathematics, we are working on patterns and the big question is as follow:
How do
patterns affect my life?
Patterns affect our lives in
our routines, through the seasons (clothes, food, and activities), the time
(hours that repeats) and more.
The students are also working
on finding patterns in their environment and all around them (clothes and
cloths, trees, flowers and so on)
Since
students benefit highly from reinforcement at home, we encourage open
conversations about these topics and what they are working on in class. Your
little ones will be proud to share their learning with you and, in return, share
what they have learned at home with the class.
Thank you,
Mme Melissa et Marie-Claude

Special Presentation - Morrison Meadows Farm
Hi Parents,
We had a very special presentation in the classroom on October 7, 2013. Olive did a presentation in the SK class today with her grandparents about a farm called Morrison Meadows in Bracebridge. The farm was purchased and developed to support adults with developmental disabilities, including Olive's Uncle Mike, who has Down's Syndrome.
Here is a link to the farm's web-site.
Morrison Meadows Farm
Thank you very much! The farm is really important to the family, and Olive was very proud to be able to share her presentation with the class.
Thank you,

Pumpkin Carving Hour
Hi Parents,
We will be doing Pumpkin Carving in the classroom on Thursday October 24th from 1:45 to 2:45pm. Parents are invited to bring in a pumpkin and carve it with your child in the class. Please be sure to bring a knife, newspaper and anything you want to enjoy decorating your pumpkin.
If you are not available, think about a significant adult in your child's life who could join us for that special Pumpkin Carving Hour.
Please contact Stacia at stacia.c.morris@gmail.com to RSVP for this wonderful event.
Also all regular volunteers need to fill in a police check form. Please get one from the office ASAP so that you can join us on a regular basis.
Thank you,
Mme Melissa et Marie-Claude
